Cindy Abbott began mushing at Lance Mackey’s Comeback Kennels in 2011 and took 6th place in the 2012 Yukon Quest 300. She finished the 2012 Top of the World 350 (placing 18th), the 2013 Copper Basin 300 (22nd), and the 2013 Northern Lights 300 (23rd), and and then went on to run the 2013 Iditarod, scratching at Kaltag because of a broken pelvis
A Health Science Instructor at California State University in Fullerton, California, she travels frequently from her home in California to train with Lance Mackey. Cindy and her husband Larry have three children. Cindy lists her hobbies as mountain climbing, scuba diving, ballroom dancing and travel. In 2010 Cindy was with a group of mountaineers who summited Mt. Everest.
