Monica Zappa began racing as a child in Wisconsin. After traveling around the world for ten years she “had a calling to run dogs” and moved to Kasilof, Alaska, where she joined Tim Osmar’s Osmar Racing and Tours Kennel, where she describes her current occupation as dog musher, commercial fisherman, and dreamer. She lists her kennel duties as scheduling and online promotions, guiding tours, training dogs, caring for the kennel and “lots more.” Her previous race experience includes “placing 8th in first 100 mile race in Alaska, in 2011; 8th in a 120 mile race in Alaska; and completing 6 races in 2012 from 80 to 280 miles, finishing last to 4th place.” Monica lists her interests as cooking, sewing, traveling, exploring, and dreaming.
